Competitions or tournaments are held within the UK, they are a friendly occasion for everyone that enjoy the sport, or for anyone wishing to watch and get to know likeminded people and to get together and chat, compete, qualify for Championship within the UK and Abroad (European championship) or just have a good day out and test their skills.
All Horseback Archery is done within a track, most participants are right handed and therefore shoot from the left of the horse at the target, left handed Archers can also compete but they shoot off the right side of their horse.
The competition track/ course is ninety metres long and is divided into three equal sections 30 metres each (each section is separated with a wooden post) each of the three shots are taken from three different angles the forward shot the side shot and the back shot (also known as the Parthain shot).

A time device is set up at the first gate until the horse archer reaches the finish of the track the maximum being 18 seconds( for practising beginners this time in not applicable), the amount of time which is saved on the track/ course is then added to the score on the targets. Each target is scored in a different system, enabling the archer to achieve a varied score. At present in the UK the competition track is as laid out by Kassai Lojas (Hungarian style) but also embraces different methods and styles from different countries giving an opportunity for everyone whether beginner or advanced.

We also encourage 3D targets and the one shot target - great for beginners and children.
